Research on Influence of Education on Shaping Personality: A Case Study of Dick-ens' Hard Times

Education is of great significance to national development and social progress, so education is always a hot topic in every country. This paper first makes a brief summary of the development history of British education. Secondly, through the analysis of school and family education in Charles Dickens' famous work Hard Times, it concludes that education has an important impact on shaping personality, especially the extreme utilitarian education and factual education will make people form deformed personality in childhood. Finally, it will have a negative impact on personality building. Finally, some suggestions are given in view of this phenomenon.
