A Study on Strategies for Integrating Chi-nese Traditional Culture into Junior Middle School English Teaching under the Back-ground of the New Curriculum Standards

The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education (2022 Edition) points out that in the current domain of cultural awareness teaching, it is necessary to deepen students' under-standing and expression of Chinese traditional culture and enhance their cultural confidence. Combining the current national requirements for curriculum-based ideological and political ed-ucation and the cultivation of students' socialist core values, English teaching should focus on cultivating students' ability to tell Chinese stories well in English and enhancing their cross-cultural communication skills. Currently, both English teachers and students hold a posi-tive attitude towards integrating Chinese culture into English teaching. However, in actual teaching, some teachers have a relatively weak awareness of cultural teaching, and students are unable to accurately express Chinese culture, with their cross-cultural competence being insuf-ficient. Based on the current phenomena and the research findings of scholars, this paper sum-marizes and refines corresponding strategies, providing ideas and methods for integrating Chi-nese traditional culture into English teaching through examples. The teaching cases provided in this study not only facilitate the application of abstract concepts into classroom practice but also offer inspiration and references for English teachers to integrate Chinese traditional culture into their classes and for students to better express Chinese traditional culture in English.
