The Application of Situational Language Teaching Method in High School English Grammar Teaching
—A Case Study of Teaching the Subjunctive Mood

Grammar teaching is an important component of high school English instruction. However, traditional grammar teaching overly focuses on rule explanation and mechanical drills, leading to students' lack of interest and weak pragmatic competence. The Situational Language Teaching Method, by creating authentic contexts close to students' real lives and making abstract grammatical knowledge intuitive and concrete, can effectively stimulate students' learning motivation and promote the integration of grammatical form, meaning, and usage. Based on an analysis of the current situation of high school English grammar teaching, this paper expounds the connotation of the Situational Language Teaching Method and the feasibility and necessity of its application to grammar teaching. Taking the teaching of the subjunctive mood as an example, it explores specific application strategies such as audiovisual contexts, life contexts, story contexts, and activity contexts, aiming to provide practical references for high school English grammar teaching.
