The translation of legal texts has been one of the main areas of machine translation use. In re-cent years, with the continuous development of China's economy and society, the increasing frequency of cultural exchanges, the continuous improvement of the level of globalization, and the increasingly complex necessity of handling international affairs, the use of machine transla-tion in the legal field should be continuously improved. With the rapid development of machine translation (MT) technology, its application in legal text translation is becoming more and more extensive. This paper will use machine translation to understand the prescriptiveness and rigor of legal texts by discussing the register characteristics of legal texts. By discussing the current application and current situation of machine translation, some mainstream machine translation models, and summarizing the problems existing in the field of machine translation, and giving corresponding feasible measures, to improve the efficiency and accuracy of machine translation
