Abstract

In the context of the Belt and Road Initiative propelling the in-depth development of cultural exchanges and mutual learning, the international dissemination of Chinese Han culture has moved from the stage of superficial language translation to a new stage of in-depth narrative system construction. As a narrative carrier with high visual recognition in Han culture, the English translation and reconstruction of the cultural narrative of traditional costumes directly determine the actual effect and depth of the cross-cultural communication of Han culture. Taking the cultural narrative of traditional costumes as a specific research sample, this study focuses on the core problems of "narrative aphasia" and "cultural misreading" in the process of English communication of Han culture. By analyzing the practical dilemmas of the current English communication of traditional costume cultural narrative and deconstructing the Han cultural narrative genes contained in traditional costumes, it further puts forward the core concepts of narrative reconstruction adapted to the cross-cultural communication context of the Belt and Road Initiative, and constructs specific practical paths from four dimensions: subject, discourse, scene and modality. Finally, it expounds the practical value and extended significance of narrative reconstruction for the international dissemination of Han culture. The study shows that only by taking Han cultural genes as the core and building a costume cultural narrative system adapted to the English narrative logic and the cultural cognitive habits of countries along the route, can traditional costumes become an important window for countries along the Belt and Road to understand Han culture, and promote the cross-cultural communication upgrade of Han culture from "being recognized" to "being identified".
