The Research on the Creation of the Overseas Image of the CPC by the Communica-tion of China Defence League Newsletter during the Anti-Japanese War

During the Anti Japanese War, influenced by the international communication pattern and ideological prejudice, international public opinion had significant cognitive bias towards the image of the CPC (hereinafter referred to as the "CPC"). China Defense League and its official publication, "China Defence League Newsletter" (hereinafter referred to as "Newsletter"), is a key medium for correcting cognitive biases and constructing a positive overseas image of the Communist Party of China, using English Chinese bilingual multimodal texts as carriers. This study takes multimodal discourse analysis theory as the core, combined with cross-cultural communication theory, to systematically analyze the image construction path of "Newsletter": through the coordination of multiple modalities such as vision, language, and behavior, three core images of the Communist Party of China, namely "Anti Japanese War Pioneer", "Livelihood Public Servant", and "International Collaborator", are constructed. The effectiveness verification shows that "Newsletter" broke through the Kuomintang's information blockade and promoted the international community's perception of the image of the Communist Party of China from "mystification" and "demonization" to "concretization" and "positivity". The study not only restored the communication value of "Newsletter", but also provided a historical mirror for the communication that the CPC is the mainstay of the key to the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
