Cultural relic protection of laboratory pottery —Take the restoration of pottery unearthed at Dongshunda site as an example

Abstract

This study examines the restoration process of Dongshunba pottery artifacts, establishing standardized protocols for laboratory conservation. The paper provides comprehensive guidance on pre-restoration documentation, pottery cleaning and disassembly techniques, component reassembly methods, and polishing procedures. Addressing challenges like severe ceramic powdering and complex deformation, it proposes innovative solutions including customized adhesives and precision mold fabrication. Through summarizing practical experiences and identified limitations, the research underscores the critical importance of preserving cultural relics' authenticity while outlining future directions for advancing laboratory conservation technologies.
