A Comparative Analysis of Chinese and English Imagist Poetry from a Spatial Perspective
—A Case Study of "Tianjingsha · Autumn" and "The Red Wheelbarrow"

The poems of Bai Pu and William Carlos Williams are classical works of Imagist poetry. The former is full of the charm of Chinese classical Imagist aesthetics, while the latter actively assim-ilates the art of Chinese classical poetry and integrates painting techniques into his poetic crea-tions. Based on the perspective of space, this paper takes Bai Pu’s Tianjingsha·Autumn and Wil-liams’ The Red Wheelbarrow as examples to compare Chinese and English Imagist poetry from the three levels of physical, psychological and cultural spaces, revealing the similarities and dif-ferences in their creative techniques and cultural connotations, thereby facilitating a profound comprehension of their artistic value and cultural significance.
